The ego… the ego… It’s certainly generated a lot of discussion 🙄❗️

The world doesn’t revolve around it—or rather, around *us*, around our own little selves

Even though, at times, we might wish it did. It would be so much simpler: events would make sense, and other people’s behavior would have an explanation 😉

We often hear that we need to break free from the ego, to dissolve it… Let’s not get carried away, though ❗️

The ego is essential to us.

Yes, because it acts as a filter, a way of scaling down reality 🤏. At any given moment, we are surrounded by a dizzying amount of information 🤯—far too much for our brains to absorb.

Imagine seeing, hearing, and feeling everything all at once… It would drive us mad 🫨🫨🫨

So, thank you, ego 🙏❗️

It sorts and selects, closing some doors while leaving just a few ajar. It allows us to function without being overwhelmed by the world 😅

But then again… we also know it performs this little sorting process based on what suits us 😜. Or on what we expect to perceive…

Anyway, let’s get back to its usefulness.

Yes, the ego is efficient, but that efficiency comes at a price.

By constantly filtering reality, the ego eventually draws a line between "here"—the "self"—and "out there"—"the rest" 🫸

It creates that powerful sense we have of being a separate consciousness.

A being distinct from others.

Distinct from nature.

Distinct from the world.

And perhaps even distinct from the entire universe.

And that separates us… 😢

The thicker that boundary becomes—in other words, the larger (or even oversized) our ego grows 😉—the more our field of vision narrows.

We then interpret events from our tiny vantage point: that famous navel of ours ❗️

What it means for me, what people think of me, what was done to me, what I might lose or what I could gain… me, me, me… 😵‍💫

Indeed… The ego protects us just as much as it confines us.

And sometimes, it stops us from seeing. From truly seeing.

So, let’s regularly grab our little cloth 🧽🧹🧽 to wipe away the excess dust, open our eyes, and see 👀

It is with this 💫💭🪄 Magical Thought 🪄💭💫 that I am wrapping up our Monday get-togethers 😌

Yes… I’ve decided to reorganize my time ⏳ and focus to dedicate myself fully to a major project that is very close to my heart—one that will require a great deal of my energy in the coming months.

As André Gide said: "To choose is to give something up."

That doesn’t mean I’m giving everything up completely, though…

From time to time, I’ll happily 😃 share—here and there—the gems I discover in the course of my extensive reading 📚

All to keep celebrating and elevating the magic of Life 💫
